If you are using AX2012 R2 you can have one chart of accounts and manage the account structures (which dimensions used per ledger account) per company (within form Ledger).
Creating the dimensions has to be done in a smart way. This depends slightly on using these dimension in a organization hierarchy or not.
You can specifiy within the account structure which dimensions you want to use and what values are allowed.
Please note: In the first release of AX2012 the account structures are managed at the chart of accounts and not per Ledger.
Hi Andre ,
I have a couple of questions in the above post . I request you please answwer me the questions.
a) How Dimensions are depends on Organization hierarchy ? Explain with an example.
b) In the first release of AX2012 the account structures are managed at the chart of accounts and not per Ledger. I did not understand this statement .
Thanks in advance.
Hi Lally,
The organization units (OU) can be defined as financial dimensions as well. So if you create departments (OU), these department values can be used if you setup a dimension where the values are used from the Departments.
There is a difference in the first and second release of AX2012. See also my blog. It was first setup at the chart of accounts itself. Now it is in the Ledger form which enhances some setup scenario's.
