How to populate the field when the checkbox is check

Hey Guys

Do you have an idea on how to automatic populate the field when the checkbox is checked, for example i have a Contact form and it store all of the information of a person and on the bottom part there was a section to add a case and it will show up another form. On the case form there was a checkbox that if the case is emergency or not and on the next section where i can add a new recommendation and again it will show up another form to add some data on the field. but what i want is on the recommendation form when the checkbox is checked it will automatically filled the field with the "emergency" word and the type of the field is option set there was already some data. i already add condition in the workflow that "if case: Emergency equals Yes" and i add a update form and then i select the emergency word on field save and then activate and publish and refresh the page and i try to test the form. i try to check the checkbox and then save and after that i add a recommendation and still the the field is on a selection mode.

Anyone can help me with my project.

    Hi KaeL,

    I think what are trying to do is pass parameters to the new entity form that is opened up.

    This can be done through script. Please see this article: msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334375.aspx

    Sorry I am bit confused. What I understood is, as soon as user marked the case Emergency, you want to autopopulate this on Recommendation form?

    So if my understanding is correct then I would like to know, Do we have any relation between Recommendation and Case Entity? Any Case lookup on Recommendation form, something like this?

    Hi ,

    No doubt this is very complex scenario you are working with.

    Could you please summarise your question in one sentence.

    What I understood in last few words recommendation optionset set value is not been set in update form if it's so I would recommend to write javascript in onload and retrieve the case details and set using javascript instead of workflow.

    Ok so if you have the relationship then you can write the javascript to get the information from Case entity and can autopopulate it on the Recommendation form.

    You could have also used Quick View Form in order to display the Case information without writting JS code. For this you must have Case lokup on Recommendation form.

    So its up to you. Which way you prefer to meet your requirement.
