Get Fetch XML on close of Advanced find in custom page

Posted on by 232

Hi,

We have implemented custom html page in D365. In that page, our customer has asked search functionality similar to advanced find and based on the advanced find condition, we need to show the results in the html page.

I have two ideas to implement this functionality. But not sure whether those are possible.

  1. Is there anyway to embed the OOB advanced find in the custom page and on click custom button pass the fetchxml to custom page.
  2. Implement custom button in html page to open advanced find and on close of advanced find pass the fetch xml back to html page.

Please let me know whether these are possible. Also, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Nithya

There's no supported way to do this, but you might be able to do it with unsupported code. You can access the Advanced Find page using the url https://<crmurl>/main.aspx?pagetype=advancedfind . I don't know if it deliberately checks if it's within an IFrame, but if you either put it in an IFrame, or launch it using javascript, you should be able to access the DHTML elements, and attach script to e.g. the Results button to pass the information back to your page.

As I said, this would be unsupported, and would need testing whenever Microsoft release an update, as that might change the DHTML of the page.

One other possibility is whether you could use a Reporting Services report to provide some of your functionality. When a report is run based on a filter, you get the fetch xml of the filter passed in parameters to the report
