Item/product number sequences set up

Hi all,

I currently have a product/item number set-up which gives a separate number to the item globally and at a company-level, these 2 numbering sequences often fall out of alignment e.g. I have an item with a global product number of '004', but a company-specific item number of '002'.

When these two are out of alignment, it is extremely confusing and I cannot find a way to allow both the product number and the item number to use the same number sequence, is this possible?

Ideally, I would like the product/item number on an item to align, no matter which company I release the item to (Could be several in this case).

Can anyone help?

Which D365 product are you using? The D365 brand covers quite a few things, such as Finance and Operations, Business Central or Customer Engagement.

Do you need the number sequence for items at all? As far as I know, the product number is used if there is no number sequence for item numbers.

    Hi Martin,

    It really was that easy....

I have been trying to create new 'shared' item numbering for company-specific numbering (I know), I've tried going through all parameters to try and 'assign' the global product number to the item number field....

I followed your answer and removed the reference for the company specific item number sequence and stopped the sequence and there you go.... the item number field is auto-populated by the global product number by default.

    thanks for the help!
