I have a GP user that's getting the error message when attempting to log onto GP. All was fine before, now all of a sudden this happens and no changes that I'm aware of have been made on the GP server.
The error reads:
Title of pop-up box: Dexterity Runtime
Error Message: You do not have permission to open this file.
I uninstalled and reinstalled GP on the workstation, I'm the Domain Admin and I'm able to log onto GP from my profile on her workstation using her GP account successfully. I can even log onto the GP server as this user without any problems. I tried giving this user local admin rights on her workstation but it doesn't work...still get the same error.
The problem only happens when the user logs on as herself to the workstation then attempts to launch GP.
I am new to this program so I am not sure what to do.
Please help

Hi chupamilto
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I have been really busy with my clients.
The error you are receiving is most likely because on the new workstation you have loaded the HR module but the HR module was never installed into the database.
Question for you. When you installed the new workstation and you were at the window asking which additional functionality to load, did you select everything to install? Or did you install only the functionality currently being used?
To find out what is being used and what you should install, look at an existing workstation, and open the dynamics.set file. Here you can see which products should be loaded.
I would also check and see if somewhere on your server there is a workstation installation template, as that will make installing on additional workstations easier.
Hello Jeffrey. I am doing good on this. Now I tried to do a new installation on another computer but I am getting the following error
Not able to find procedure "Dynamics.dbo.hrSysDoesHRSysExist"
Do you have any idea what this would be?
Am I doing a mistake on connecting to ODBC???
Hi
First make sure that the ODBC you set up is a 32bit ODBC. Be sure to setup a System DSN not a User DSN.
If you have other workstations that are working and connect to Dynamics GP, I would name the ODBC driver the same as you have on those workstations.
For Server, you want the SQL server where your Dynamics GP databases are kept.
On the next screen use SQL Server authentication to login. I usually use the sa account. Note that the sa account is not stored here and it is only to login to setup this connection.
Unmark all check boxes on the next two windows. You don't specify a default database. Then test the connection and you should be good to go
I went in there and was not sure what you meant
Like on the window that says
How should SQL Server verify the authentication of the login ID?
What should I put there??
and then on the next page
Do I even select the default database???
and then on the last page
I un-select all the check boxes?
check your setting on your odbc driver. It should be a 32bit ODBC driver that you use.
Unmark all check boxes on the next 2 windows
Then give it a try and see if you get the same message
Hello Jeffrey.
This worked really good, now I can go to the logon
But now I get the following
Your attempting to log in from a data source using a trusted connection. Update the SQL Server settings for this data source to disable trusted connections and try logging in again.
Is this something that you can help me with too?
Hi
The first thing I would do is to check to see if the user has adequate rights to the location where you may have common files stored. Usually the forms.dic and reports.dic files are kept on a server and everyone shares these. This makes backing up these files easy and everyone uses the same files so you don't have multiple versions around.
On the workstation, go into the Dynamics GP folder and open the Dynamics.set file. You can use notepad for this.
Scroll down the file until you see some pathing like this
Windows
:C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Dynamics/GP2013/Dynamics.dic
\\server\dynamics_share\rep&forms\FORMS.DIC
\\server\dynamics_share\rep&forms\REPORTS.DIC
In my example there is a network share that these are kept. The user should have at least Read/Write/Modify rights.
I recommend using a Group and then adding the GP users to this group.
Try this first and if it doesn't work, let me know and I will give you some other things to try, but based on what you have said, the solution above works 95% of the time
