Using dimensions with Sales Orders

Hi,

I have set up a dimension called CUSTOMER TYPE. I will be using the values DOMESTIC and FOREIGN for this dimension.

I would like to assign this dimension to all of my customers. I.e. I want every customer to be classified as either DOMESTIC or FOREIGN.

I've used table 352 to assign the default dimensions.

The problem I am facing is that now when users go to post sales orders they are being forced to select a dimension before posting each order.

Is there a way to configure it so that if customer ABC is assigned a CUSTOMER TYPE dimension value of DOMESTIC every sales order for customer ABC will be automatically posted with the DOMESTIC dimension value? I don't want my users to have to manually select a value for each sales order.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

    Drew,

On the Customer Card when you navigated to Dimensions, did you setup the Dimension Code = Customer Type, a Value = Domestic or Foreign, and Value Posting = SAME CODE.

    Try this and test.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I had set the Value Posting to Same Code.

When my users went to post sales orders they received the below error message.

The dimensions used in Order S123456 are invalid (Error: Select Dimension Value Code DOMESTIC for the Dimension Code CUSTOMER TYPE for Customer ABC)

    Drew,

Was this Sales Order already created and a User tried to Post. If yes, the Dimensions have not been updated to already created documents. If you created a Sales Order from scratch, entered the Item and try to Post, does that work.

    Hi Steve

This was a sales order that was already created. I tried creating a sales order from scratch and it worked.

Given that we have hundreds of open sales orders I'm wondering what is the most efficient way to assign the appropriate dimension values to each order.
