AOT modified table missing Modified Date, Modified by properties

Using my usual procedure* of importing xpo files (AX2009), I came across one table that does not have a corresponding UtilElements record. Prior layer was Sys, modified layer is Cus. The change is obvious - an added field that is referenced by classes & forms, but modified properties retain last rollup date. The layer does not display correctly (sys, syp, cus) until selecting the element.

I've never had this happen before and wonder what could have caused it and how to prevent future occurances?

* Usual procedure: 1 make edits to AOT element in Dev environment, 2 add to MorphX version control (if in sys/syp layer), 3 export xpo to Test, 4 user testing.

TmpProjAdjustmentCreate will show cus layer when selecting.

    Hi Mark,

Do you mean that you select an object in the AOT which initially does not display the layers. When selected it will appear after about a second? This is happening to me very often. It is due to caching objects which weren't cached yet.

Makes sense. What concerns me more is that the modified date/by is not updated. Any thoughts?

    Hi Mark,

I forgot answering that part of your question. As e.g. adding a field or method or changing a method is not really changing the main object (e.g. table method/table field is not affecting the main table), the modified date/time and user is also not updated. AX2012 only stores changes to objects in the model store, not the complete object like it was in AX2009 and before.

The changes on fields/method are visible in the SysModelElement and related tables. Also you can explore the system documentation tables UtilElements and UtilIdElements which will also provide this information.

I'm not sure your statement is correct, regarding AX 2009. As far as I can tell, any change to table, whether method or field add or edit, does update the changed by /changed date properties, as well as the UtilEntryLayer, and a record is inserted into System documentation UtilElements table.

Except once, and I've been tracking UtilElements changes for years. So I wonder, how, why. Maybe there is no answer.

    Hi Mark,

I missed the AX2009 tag on the post. The answer is valid for AX2012. There should be a record in the UtilElements table. This is a view based on the aod/aoi file. You can try to stop the AX service; rename the axapd.aoi file to e.g. axapd.old (this will be a temporary backup). Then restart the service. The aoi file will be rebuild. Possibly this can solve the issue.

If the system is running, you can delete the old file.
