Negative inventory in the blank location - how to remove

Posted on by 2,650

Hi Guys,

I understand being able to use item reclassification journals to migrate positive stock out of the blank location to another location but what happens when their is negative stock in the blank location?

Currently in inventory setup LOCATION MANDATORY is not checked

someone somehow managed to post inventory journals that allowed this stock to go negative and these need reversed.

How do we get rid of this as it is stopping the inventory closing process?

This is quite urgent

It looks like a customisation was done to contribute to this issue, thanks Teddy.

    Hi Kauto,

I can confirm that you can do item journal with blank location. What error message did you get ? Chances are you have customization that block the functionality.

Another method: If you go to Item list page, there is a button Item > Adjust Inventory. You can also adjust the quantity from there.

The system is not allowing any form of adjustment using the item journal even though location mandatory is not checked, this is why I raised the issue, has anyone any experience of this problem? We have negative stock stuck in the blank location with no way of removing it currently.

    Thanks

You can do positive adjustment in blank location using the item journal. Or do reclassification journal to move stock from another location to blank location.
