Mapping Parent Account to Case entity

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi experts

I have an out of the field in the account record called "Parent Account". I have also created another "Parent Account" field in the case record so that when the user chooses the customer, they can also see the parent account.

For this requirement, I would like to map the parent account field in account entity to the parent account field in the case entity. But when I create the field the system creates a relationship itself and doesnt let me change it.

How can I change the mapping? Or is there another approach to take for this?

Thanks,

Jon

    Hi Goutam and Mahender,

I'll look into both approaches and implement whichever works best for the requirement.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

If you just want to see parent account of the customer in case you can simply utility Quick View, you can place quick view on Case entity which will have parent account, as soon as you will select customer from the lookup it will show parent customer in quick view. You can find more details here: docs.microsoft.com/.../quick-view-control-properties-legacy

    Hello Jon ,

Yes its expected behavior as you already have the relation between case and account entity .

I would suggest better to go to the N:1 relationship from case entity --> go to mappings --> Click on more actions --> Automatically generate field mappings.
