What platforms are most commonly replaced during migrations to Dynamics 365?

Hi Everyone,

I’m conducting a research study on Dynamics 365 adoption patterns and would love your insights.

In your experience or observation, what platforms are most commonly replaced when organizations migrate to Dynamics 365 (CRM, F&O, or Business Central)?Additionally:

  • Are there any trends based on industry or company size?
  • Have you seen any notable shifts in the past couple of years in terms of where migrations are coming from?
  • Are there common challenges or opportunities during such transitions?

Your responses will really help shape a broader market view, and I’d be happy to share a summary of the insights gathered.

Thanks in advance!

    Hey!

Perhaps the most important trends & Challenges are:
    - For companies that come from outside the Microsoft's environment, get awareness that it's not only Dynamics 365. They will also need several Azure functionalities and configuration.
    - Getting the right partners to perform tasks.  When you need assistance on something, Microsoft Support might be able to assist, but in some situations the issue is due to not taking into consideration Proof of Concept/Testing/Other products to integrate or migrate. And this is where working with partners is really relevant.
    - For companies still operating old versions of software or OnPrem software, switing to cloud mentality:  Your users are not only on your local domain, you'll need EntraID users.  Running PowerAutomate to perform actions (and not local tasks/jobs).
