Extended Cost Field

Posted on by 2

What is the difference between the 'extended cost' in the 'Sales Transactions' smartlist compared to that in the 'sales line items'?

I was checking sales data and I noticed all the extended costs were coming up negative from the sales transactions smartlist. I would usually use the 'sales line items' that's why I never noticed it, but, is this normal?

    RE: Extended Cost Field

Supposing that the transaction is posted, the extended cost on the "Sales Transaction" Smartlist is the total of all line items actual costs which have been withdrawn from your inventory. Meanwhile, the "Sales Line items" Smart lists include the actual extended cost for each line item.

So the different is practically (header and detail), one shows the total and the other shows the details.
Keep in mind that unposted transaction shows the expected cost, which will be determined at the time of posting depending on your inventory valuation method.
