Business Central Cloud: Custom Extensions Disappear Unexpectedly

I've been experiencing a perplexing issue in the cloud version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. My custom extensions, which are critical to my workflows, occasionally disappear from the platform.

Here’s what I’ve observed:

  • The extensions seem to get uninstalled or deleted unexpectedly.
  • This behavior occurs intermittently, and there doesn’t appear to be a consistent trigger.
  • I’ve started implementing measures to mitigate the risk of losing data associated with these extensions, but the issue persists.

Now, I’m left with two primary questions:

  1. Could this be caused by someone in my organization with administrative permissions? For example, are they maliciously uninstalling or deleting the extensions?
  2. Is this potentially a quirk of the Business Central Cloud platform itself?

I’d greatly appreciate any insights into:

  • How to audit such actions in the system to determine if someone with permissions is responsible.
  • Known quirks or behaviors in Business Central Cloud that might lead to this issue.

If you’ve encountered a similar problem or have suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this, your advice would be invaluable.

    This is also clearly written when you publish from VS Code.
    Important: Extensions that have been published from Visual Studio Code are removed when the environment is updated or relocated within our service. For more information, see this article on sandbox environments https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2153804 .
