I have never had to work with a GP install using another Language other than English-US. I have an install using English-Canada and now need to upgrade this instance to 18.5.1596.
I am assuming when this instance was originally installed, the language is something that is selected. This was done years ago before me.
Is there a separate 18.5 update/upgrade file I need to download and run, or do I use the same file that I use when I upgrade my US instance?
To best answer this, I need to explain the difference between Dynamics GP translated versions and GP country/localizations.
Dynamics GP comes in three languages:
--English / U.S.
--Spanish / Latin American
--French / Canadian
So, first, depending on which language of Dynamics GP you have, you'll need to make sure you have the correct language files when attempting to upgrade, i.e. ENUS, ESLA or FRCA.
Once you have that, then when you install Dynamics GP, there is a Region/Country that you also select, so in this case you'll probably choose 'Canada'. Depending on this choice, it dictates how some functionality and processes are presented within the GP application, such as tax information and such, based on that country chosen.
The country/region also dictates what features are available to install, for example, if I need 'Canadian Payroll', I need to choose 'Canada' and the 'United States' region selection does not have that option.
Let me know if you have any questions from this and I'll be happy to help further.
Thanks
