Customer is having trouble printing from GP running on terminal server.
In GP if you go to file > Print Setup is grayed out, but not all the time. Some times it is fine.
Intermittantly when you print a report the print option is greyed out, and or the printer button is grayed out.
The target printer does not hold for a user. It prints to one printer one time and another printer another.
If the user logs out and back in, everyting is ok for a while, but then happens again in a day later.
Anyone have any ideaas?
Thank you,
joe

Hi Joe
You might also want to look at how Named Printers works on a Terminal Server.

It took a while but I went around to the different printers that we used, wrote down the model numbers, and then wen to the manufacturer's website to download the most recent drivers for Server 2008 x64. In our case, they were all HP printers to I just made sure that I was changing the model number on their website so that I could download the right driver.
Once I had them all, i removed the shared printers from the network, removed all the old drivers, and then re-installed and shared everything on our print server. After that, it was just a matter of going to terminal server and the other clients and re-adding all of the printers again, this time with the correct driver.
We still have the problem every once in a while, but it's usually because our print spooler has unexpectedly stopped due to a corrupt print job.
Hope this helps,

They are telling me they are on Server 2008 64-bit. Do you know what drivers you loaded or can you tell me how you went about finding the required drivers?
I am a SQL and GP guy not not really an OS guy, so I really appreciate the info.
Joe,
Is this Terminal Server on Server 2008? Is it 64-bit? I had this issue with GP10 when we upgraded to Server 2008 and it turned out to be an issue with multiple print drivers for the printers on our network. Once I was able to get the correct drivers installed on the print server, everything was alright.
As a temporary fix, I setup named printers in GP10 for some of the clients that had the most trouble and this seemed to be a good work around until I was able to get the correct drivers. This maybe something worth looking into as you work towards a resolution.

No...just one TS
Joe - Does the customer have more than 1 Term server? Some customers have 2 term servers (suppose to be identical) which access a database server. If one of the term servers printing options are not set correctly you will have - now you see the Print Setup but then you don't see it.
Hope this helps.
