Why BC allow deletion of posted documents

Posted on by 2,437

Hi All

I'm struggling to understand this setting where BC allow the deletion of posted documents. Shouldn't this be automatically set based on the localisation rather than someone going into settings and by mistake enabling it? I know for example  sales and receivables setup can set a date

Hi, Because each country has regulations on the retention period of financial data, such as 5 years. Data older than five years must be deleted for security reasons, of course, the data can continue to be saved in other ways.

In BC, not only posted documents, but Entries data is also allowed to be deleted.

This functionality shouldn't be accessible by users as it should be permitted by Security Permission before going live, and also That's why it's already can be activated or deactivated in Sales & Receivable setup.

This feature is actually introduced after much discussion with professionals over the globe. And you are just thinking as an end user side. But If one consultant which is migrating the data from previous version while a implementation, and all the entries are created and posted correctly. But due to one or two transaction which is wrongly entered. Does that consultant really needs to wipe all the data again to make a perfect migrated implementation??

For their ease of work this function may introduced. And this permission has a setup, so not all can use it. It is can be completely restricted to specific time or person.

So this feature is also can be utilized as requirements. And we have to use this feature in a correct manner/way.

If my answer helped you, maybe it can help others. Please verify it, so other users know it worked or helped you.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

Business Central added this functionalities recently after receiving feedback. This functionalities shouldn't be accessible to all users. That's why it's kept in setup, where non-financial personnel shouldn't have access to it.

I think this is functionalities helps to play around with data before go live, also if any wrong posting been made by sales people.
