How do I move a deposit that was booked to the incorrect bank account

Hi there!  I am very new to GP so I will likely be posting tons of questions.  I have a deposit that is reconciled but it is posted to the incorrect bank account.   My logic is to use the decrease adjustment option in the bank transaction entry window.  Hope this makes sense. Thank you!

    Hi Megan,

Welcome to the GP forum! You'll find many people here who are willing to help. If you need to transfer the money to the correct bank account, you can use the Bank Transfer transaction. If you don't need to do that, then a decrease adjustment should work. Where will you put the other side of the entry? The credit is to cash, where will the debit go? If the deposit is reconciled, was it in fact deposited in the wrong bank account?

    Hi Leslie!

thank you so much for responding!!  When I initially booked the deposit I entered it without a receipt so it never hit the GL.  It was physically deposited to the correct bank account but wrong in GP if that makes sense.  It was the opening deposit to open the account.  I have no idea where the debit will go?

If you entered it without a receipt and the increase never hit the GL, is your GL cash account out of balance with the checkbook register?

Yes- everything is out of balance.  I just started working with this company.  It is a PEO- so the do outsourced payroll etc.  They were running payrolls without having an accounting system in place for a month or so.  Just to give a bit of background.
