How trigger power automate when Virtual Entity field is created/updated?

Posted on by 2

How to capture changed field's value in Virtual Entity (Position details),I need to capture 2 fields, and based on them run calculation and updated related field in Compensation Fixed Entity.

From what I read dataverse trigger for VT is not supported, so is there any workaround? Post method? Or canvas app embedded into Dynamics HR, but then how to do it?

Record creation always worked for me.

I was talking about data events which can be used in power automate. When you select dataverse then you can see the triggers.

You can send me pm and I can check together with you.

Hi Parag, I also tried with trigger for create only and it still didn't work

That's what I also did, but client insists on having this in Position details to be able to track the changes in changes timeline with effective dates.

Post event? You mean in Power Automate ? Can you elaborate on your thought? And share some more details please :)

    Hi there,

If you are using VE, then it only supports trigger for create but not for update or delete. You cannot trigger when something is modified with virtual entity.

The workaround is to use post event, but you need to check current and previous value.

Another option is to use data event.

I faced this issue in the past and we created a field in Position entity instead of details entity.
