Hi all,

I restored gp data from data files and log files on a new sql server installation after a hand disk failure,but unfortunately there were no logins captured as it happened abruptly.How can I use the current users to build the logins or am I required to create new users?.If I create new users, can I copy access rights from the former users instead of assigning each new users the rights?

Vaildhyanathan the only issue that is wrong with the suggestion above is that the user does not have a copy of the login's from the OLD server.

Romryan, when you open the Users on the new server, do you see a list of the old users?

If you are really lucky, then you might be able to select the user from the list, tab into the page - at which time you may receive an warning that 'this user does not have a SQL login'

Enter a new password and click on save.

Again, if you are lucky the user may get created. If it does, then you are done.

If not - sorry to say that you have to create new ID's - but you should be able to copy the users access from the old users - if they are in the list to choose from.

Sorry to hear about the lose of the server, but these things do happen.
