Fixed Asset G/L Journal with Acquisition and Disposal Posting

I have a strange question that I just noticed since I usually post acquisitions and disposal on separate journals.  I have a customer who put acquisitions and disposals on the same journal for different assets and both are setup to post to the GL in Fixed Asset Setup.

When we preview the posting the only entry that shows up is for the disposal the acquisition does not show up???  If I remove the disposal line the others then preview correctly.  WTH?

You could filter on the Acquisition Costs and post then post the disposals.

I am sorry this makes no sense to me.  I don't want to post anything as I don't want to mess up the GL if they don't effect the GL.  We are also using MEM so I am not sure if there is something in that product causing the issue.

    Kim,

I figured out what you said and it did work, but they will have to go through every MEM Entity and post individually.  Interesting and a work around, but not pretty.

    Thanks so much!

You only use the FA GL Journal when you need GL Entry.

You use the GL Journal for other depreciation books.

Are you saying that MEM doesn't have the company code in these journals? I would think that they do.

To be clear, you just have to have the acquisition posted before you can post disposal entries which is why you have to filter. I would think that you code post all the acquisitions regardless of MEM company code at one time so you don't have to do each entity individually.

    Kim,

I figured this out by choosing Post Twice it actually posted the disposals first and then the acquisitions.  I tested this without MEM and without and it was only the MEM that I saw this issue with standard BC I did not have the same issue.  I am going to review with Binary and see if this is actually in their documentation or if it is a small bug.

Thanks so much for the direction!!!
