Microsoft Dynamics RMS (Archived)

database not found

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We had our router replaced today and all of a sudden I am getting a "database not found" error message when trying to open POS. I figured it would a network issue, but everything in pingable to the server with mapped network drives working as expected.

I went over to the server and tried to login, same error message. Locally it doesn't work either.

On the server I went to the store operations administrator and tried to login with windows authentication. When I do, I get the following error message:

error1.PNG

I then opened the SQL Management Studio and logged in with window authentication and try to expand out the RMS database. I get the following error message:

error2.PNG

I'm at a loss here. What should I be looking for?

Can you access the database on the computer is it located on? Replacing a router should not have effected the database machine considering that the database is local to that machine. If you can access the database on this machine then you would  just need to make sure that all other machines in your environment can see the DB machine and gain access to it.

    1. Check the DB machine IP.

    2. Check the Windows Firewall

    3. Check the router to see if the needed ports are forwarded.

    4. Pinging the DB machine is a good way to tell if your other computers can see the DB machine.

    5. On the DB machine open "Run" Type Services.msc>click into the name column and hit the "s" key and look for SQL EXPRESS Service (Not the Agent) Right click on the service and make sure it is running.

    Hello,

It seems that you should connect with SQL Authentication.

If you have forgotten this PW you can reset it with SQL Server Management like this:

You need to write down your new PW as you will not see as you type.

Start and log in SQL Management studio as sa,

On Object Explorer select Security,>  Loggins ,> sa,

here you can set a new PW for the server. Write it down and enter it.

        Default database is Master.

Use SQL authentication with RMS Administrator to connect and once connected test the connection. Once tested  OK RMS Manager and POS should be working.
