The list has not finished opening. Try your request again.

User gets this error: The list has not finished opening. Try your request again.

Steps to repro:

  1. In your Outlook inbox, select an email and choose Set Regarding. This will bring up the Look Up Record dialog box.
  2. In the Search box, put in a client last name and press enter to search.
  3. The query will fail so you can't find the account, and you will get this error:

The list has not finished opening. Try your request again.

Update Rollup 10 addresses this error message but only when it's caused by a different user action:

Assume the search box is not displayed in a lookup screen. When you select the Show Only My Records check box, you receive the following error message:

The list has not finished opening. Try your request again.

This appears to be an error unique to the user's PC, but it could also be a bug. Any ideas?

I was not able to reproduce this issue. Is any other user able to login to this user's machine and get the same error? Can this user try this on a different machine and does the error reproduce? I would also recommend turning on tracing for the client (Start | All Programs| Microsoft Dynamics CRM | Diagnostics. Another thing to look at would be disabling all Outlook addins except the CRM addin and make sure any antivirus is completely disabled for this test to ensure nothing is blocking this.

Thanks Aaron!  I'll try your suggestions.  I wasn't able to repro either and no other PCs in the office are affected --it's isolated to his PC.

I tried turning off McAfee anti-virus firewall would have been enough, but I'll turn it all completely off.

I opened a MS case 112092762850493 to help troubleshoot for a faster resolution in case these don't work.

The below trace showed no errors, but mostly showed about 20 repeats of this. Looks like it's attempting to execute the lookup but fails.

    Microsoft case conclusion:

This should be resolved by installing Update Rollup 10 on both the Outlook client computer *and* on the CRM server.

I've also just come across this issue and am not prepared to install rollup 10 due to an issue on there (javascript truncation message).  However, I found a workaround that you might want to know about, and one that means we don't have to delay our go live.  If you set the 'Display Search Box in Lookup Dialog' to Yes (which does mean they can search and choose any record they want) the message doesn't seem to come up.

    Hope it helps

Thanks Laura. The javascript truncating message is corrected in the re-release of Update Rollup 10, which was released last week.
