Can you remove unwanted segments and spaces in a co's account format?

Client's account framework is:

max acct length: 28  # segs: 6

seg1 - len 4
seg2 - len 4
seg3 - len 5
seg4 - len 5
seg5 - len 5
seg6 - len 5

Client has 10+ companies. All co's except 1 (ABC) use the following account format:
seg1 (co) - 2
seg2 (acct) - 4

The 1 co (ABC) that doesn't uses the account format default:

seg1 - len 4 (uses just the 2 digits)
seg2 - len 4 (uses 4 digits)
seg3 - len 5
seg4 - len 5
seg5 - len 5
seg6 - len 5

The format of ABC's GL acct is '80__-1120-_____-_____-_____-_____".

Is there any way for the client to remove the unwanted segments in the co's GL COA format?  Is there a way for the client to remove the unwanted spaces in the 1st segment of their GL COA?

Thanks,

John

    hi John,

You can try the CRG changer to remove the extra segments from Chart of Accounts. It updated open the open and historical transactions after change

If all of your accounts have blank spaces in them, I believe check links will remove them. What you are trying to do is not really change GL accounts but just remove unused segments. CR Group does have their reformatter module but that is usually used to make you gl account longer. You can manually adjust the SY0300 table and the GL00100 and GL00105 tables. I have done this before. I would need to review my notes. This will work because GP acurtally uses the ACTINDX field behind all the account numbers.
