fixed assets : How to Add computer parts as one set

Hi,

I'm configuring Fixed Assets in AX 2012 R3 and the customer need to add a special kind of computer device consists of CPU, screen, keyboard, mouse , ... to one set and assign it to an employee in a department and want to deal it as a one kit including all parts so i have to make a kit including different asset items

please need steps to do because i found only kit in Retail module and it'll not be related to the fixed asset module.

Hi Saifman,

The fixed asset module does not know kits.

You can create fixed assets and relate them for information purposes only.

One workaround would be creating a fixed asset and providing a description for example in the name or any other field.

Another option is using the project module where different parts/items, etc. can be combined and then activated as a single fixed asset.

Thanks DR.Ludwig , i think this option is good for me but when trying to do i didn't find my fixed items to add to the project and then use it as single fixed asset please may you explain the steps.

Hi saifman,

What you can do with a project is creating an investment type project.

For this project you can purchase and 'consume' many parts for example via purchase orders; or you can record expenses via invoice or expense journals.

All of those transactions will be accumulated and at the end of the project transferred to a single fixed asset.

The advantage is that you can always go back to the project and check what has been used for this fixed asset.

The fixed asset does, however, not directly show the different elements included but is just a single fixed asset.

You can also Identify that the asset is part of an another asset by using the structure fast tab.

You are right but the structure is only for information purposes, requires separate assets and does not create a 'combined' fixed asset.

Understood the requirement differently.
