My "Depreciation Process" in Tools > Routines > Fexed Assets > Depreciate does not work in one company only and for one user only. Any suggestions how to fix the problem?
Thank you, everybody!

    Hello!

it sounds like you have a stuck record in the FA40203 (common issue when GP goes down during a depreciation process. The below KB should get you back up and running!

The Depreciate button is not available in the Depreciate Assets window when you try to depreciate assets in Microsoft Dynamics GP or in Microsoft Business Solutions – Great Plains

If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know.

    Ludmila,

I have a blog-post about Dynamics GP acting sketchy with no error code being thrown.  this might help.  But this typically is not a problem with PowerUsers.  You may want to pay close attention to the troubleshooting steps involving SQL security I mention in the article (Grant.SQL Script and checking permissions in SQL Server Management Studio for the user).

    Hi Harry,

The affected user has POWERUSER role assigned, which means she has access to all application functionality. But after GP crashed, "Depreciate" button stopped working for this particular user.

    Thanks,

    Ludmila

    Ludmila,

Depreciating Assets security is typically secured using the FA_Manager Security Role.  Please make sure the affected user has this Security Role assigned, or add the Depreciation Task security to a role they are assigned to.

    RE: Fixed Assets Module

    Hi Mahmoud,

I was processing the depreciation for Sept., and all of a sudden GP closed in the middle of processing the job. After I logged in again, "Depreciate" field did not function (as if it was frozen). When I went to GL Posting, the numbers in the transaction were incomplete (much lower than they were supposed to be).

There were no error messages on the screen at any point.

And yes, the function works for "sa" user and all other users except for me who was processing depreciation when the system crashed.

And yes, I do have access to the window but the "Depreciate" field is not in black font, the letters are pale, and clicking the field does not start any processes.

I have not checked if anything is running on the SQL profiler because I do not know how to do that.

    Thank you for your help,

    Ludmila

Can you please provide further details, what do you mean by "doesn't work" ? Is it giving any security privileges errors ? Is it working for the "sa" user ?

Do they have access for the window, and when they click "depreciate" nothing occurs at all ? In case so, have you checked that there is nothing running on the SQL profiler meanwhile ?

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,
