Workflow submit issue

The screen below is the error I got when trying to complete a workflow “Submit” action in the TEST company for Purchase Requisitions with a user that doesn’t have access to the LIVE company.

As you can see, the error is referencing the LIVE company database name although we were in the TEST.

The only work-around I could have done at the time was to give the user access to the LIVE, just to continue testing transactions in the TEST.

Any help you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Derek,

All the GP databases belong to DYNSA.

The master, model, etc belong to sa

The Web Services belong to the windows user, I used to install it.

I am awaiting feedback further to running the grant script. I will let you know how it goes so I can know if to create the support incident or not.

    Hi Derek,

I will try the grant script and advise how it goes.

We may need to open a support case because normally we don't see this type of message associated to Workflow functionality, but more with just users logging in or something along those lines.

If you haven't already done so, I would try running the Grant.sql script against your GP databases and make sure that runs successfully on each database, as this script gives the DYNGRP database role the permissions to use and access the tables, views and stored procedures for Dynamics GP, and each GP user is assigned to this database role for the system and all company databases the user has access to, but on the other side, it shouldn't be referencing the wrong company database, so there may be something else going on which is tough to troubleshoot through forums without actually looking at the environment.

Also, make sure the db owner of all GP databases is DYNSA, which you can verify by running the sp_helpdb script and looking under the 'owner' column.

It's an odd error as Workflow primarily uses Windows AD accounts, not so much GP logins, and we don't need to assign the Windows AD users to have access to GP databases or objects...

    Thanks

    RE: Workflow submit issue

    Hi Derek,

The table was updated with the correct company ID.

    The error:

[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]The server principal 'username' is not able to access the database 'LIVE' under the current security context.

So it seems to be something related to security.

The screenshot didn't come through but I understand when submitting a workflow in a test company, it is referencing a live company database?

If so, my first comment would be that if this is a test company that had a backup of the live company restored into it, that you ran the script from KB 871973 against the test company after it was restored, to make sure you're using the correct company ID value for that test company as setup in the SY01500 system table.

If it is a trigger or another SQL object that is holding onto the name of the live company, you probably would need to drop and re-create the objects through SQL Maintenance and/or the Database Maintenance Utility, based on what the error or object is...…

    Thanks
