Budget Contol

Dear All,

I am trying to import my 2016 Budgets into the AX and configure the budgeting control.

The issue I am facing is in the below example:

There are a total of $200 actual transactions that accrued from the beginning of the year till now on Mobile Expenses.

We have now decided to enter the budget for Mobile Expenses and configure the budgeting control for the rest of the year.

We have entered a total budget of $500 for the year 2016. Thus, the remaining budget for the rest of the year should be $300.

However, the system is not recognizing the $200 that has paid before we configure the budgeting control and allowing me to posting up to $500.

The Budget Threshold is 100.

Does any one has the same problem and is there a parameter to solve this issue.

Thanks and best regards,

Fahad

    Hello Fahad,

Couldn't this be resolved by setting the budget threshold down to 60% (300$ remaining / 500$ total budget)?

    Dear Ludwig,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Actually the issue is not in the threshold as this is just an example of many GLs we entered the budget for. My issue is that any actual transactions that occurred before we enter the budget is not included in the total budget remaining formula.

Hope I have explained my issue clearly

    Hello Fahad,

Is importing only the remaining budget amounts an option?

I assume that you need the data for actual budget comparisons. If so, an important question is how you recorded and handled the amounts that were accrued at the beginning of the year - the 200$. Is this an amount that has been consumed before you activated budget control or is this an amount recorded in a prior / different ERP System that you migrated?

    Hi Fahad,

it is important that you activate and turn on budget control before entering actual transactions.  All the transactions that are entered before that, will be lost in terms of budget control. It is also important that you never turn off budget control once you've started using budget control. If you do so, the transactions, that you enter during the time, that budget control is turned off, won't be recognized in budget control statistics.

    Hello Fahad,

Fully agree with Stasa. Yet, the question is what and why things happened (data migration or subsequent activation of the budget control feature) in order to get this fixed. Would be great if you could provide some additional info on that.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Dear Stasa & Ludwig,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Actually, we were using Forecaster and AX 2009 and we have recently upgraded to AX 2012. So we had to move the budget data from Forecaster into AX 2012 and that's when we faced this issue. So as Ludwig suggested, I would have to input the remaining budget for this year to activate the budget control. And As Stasa mentioned, we should not turn off the budget control once it is on so it will not lose the past transactions.

Thanks a lot guys for your help.

    Best regards,

    Fahad
