Allow Bank Transaction Entry but not Checks

I have a request to set up a new security role that will allow a user to get to all the functions of the Bank Transaction Entry form, including all of the options in the 'Type' dropdown except for Checks.

Is there a sane way to do this? Digging backwards through existing users with similar permissions I can see the ability to control transaction entry and/or access to the Bank Transaction Entry form, but I can't find a way to disable just the Checks option in the Type drop-down.

I would think this either needs to be a DEX or VBA customization.

This would need some custom code.

You could achieve this easily with GP Power Tools using the Developer Tools module.

While you cannot use a security task, you might be able to accomplish your objective with Modfier/VBA.  I think you could move the existing drop-down off the window and replace it with a new user-defined local field drop down. For the static text, do not include the 'Checks' option. Use the value set in the option and new local field to set the value of the type field. Then you could make sure the type is never set to Checks.
