Hello all,

I am trying to install Dynamics 365 for outlook and connect to my Dynamics 365 CRM instance. The configuration only goes half way and spits out an error. Error log has following entry. Strangely, I have this same configuration work perfectly on my surface, so there must be something wrong with my PC.

RE: Unable to configure Dynamics 365 for outlook with Outlook 2016

Since just prior to the official V9 release Microsoft announced that they would no longer deprecate the outlook client. Also the App for outlook is available as an additional new feature.

the issue in this post looks like maybe this: support.microsoft.com/.../there-is-a-problem-communicating-with-the-microsoft-dynamics-365-serve

  • RE: Unable to configure Dynamics 365 for outlook with Outlook 2016

Yes, this is true. MS is not yet supporting the outlook app in July 2017 update. They were meant to, but it seems now delayed for reason only MS know. I hope they can make it available ASAP.

    Thanks,

    Amit

    Hi Amit,

we are facing the same issues today:

10:35:36|  Error| Exception : Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.    bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.FormDescriptor.AddHiddenControlsForCustomControl(XmlNode formNode, EntityMetadata entityMetadata)

bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.FormDescriptor..ctor(EntityMetadata entityMetadata, XmlNode formXml, Guid formId, FormType formType, Boolean isUserForm, Boolean isActive, IOrganizationContext context)
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.Forms.FormDescriptorLoader.LoadCacheData(FormDescriptorCacheKey key, IOrganizationContext context)
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Caching.CrmMultiOrgCacheBase`2.CreateEntry(TKey key, IOrganizationContext context)
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Caching.CrmSharedMultiOrgCache`2.LookupEntry(TKey key, IOrganizationContext context)
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.Outlook.Config.OutlookConfigurator.InitializeMapiStoreForFirstTime()
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.Outlook.Config.OutlookConfigurator.Configure(IProgressEventHandler progressEventHandler)
       bei Microsoft.Crm.Application.Outlook.Config.ConfigEngine.Configure(Object stateInfo)

We have a CRM 365 Online (July update installed) instance up and running but we cannot connect with our Outlook clients.

Did you, or someone else, find a solution for that?

    Kind regards

  • RE: Unable to configure Dynamics 365 for outlook with Outlook 2016

    Hi Allison,

I don't think so. I am sure that the only change was to move from a trial version (December 2016) CRM to Trial version (July 2017) CRM. No change with the version of D365 client. Is there a way of checking which version I had retrospectively by looking into some kind of event log?

    Thanks,

    Amit

RE: Unable to configure Dynamics 365 for outlook with Outlook 2016

Sorry - by client, I meant the CRM/365 for Outlook client, not Outlook itself.  Did you have an older version of that?

  • RE: Unable to configure Dynamics 365 for outlook with Outlook 2016

Hi Allison, thanks for your reply. I had an older version of D365 trial (December 2016 update??). I had outlook integration work perfectly on it. However, I now have the July 2017 update to the D365. I believe the outlook client has remained as outlook 2016 if that's what you meant. As mentioned in my original post. I have no issue with my surface where this integration works perfectly.

    Any further pointers?

    Thanks,

    Amit
