Event participants - only generate leads (not create contacts on signup)?

when a person signes up for an event using standard event portal:

- is it possible to ony generate leads for unknown contacts

My understanding is that marketing always generates Contacts in the CRM database regardless if the contact is known or not.

Please advice :)

    Hey Thomas - this functionality is not supported today - since an event registration record always requires an associated contact with it.
