how to change accounting calendar definition on future posted transactions

Posted on by 365

We have accruals and deferred expenses that are posted in future periods.  Our accounting calendar definition is changing from a calendar month to a 5/4/4.  Instead of having the accruals and deferred expenses be on the first day of the month, they need to be the first day of the accounting period, which could be different than what was originally posted.  Is this possible to change and what needs to be done?

There is no automated WA of doing this. You'll either need to void them manually, raise some back out and correcting journals or, as Babu says, extract and create a Dynamics GP macro to void them.

I would recommend to filter the transactions which is already posted and export that into excel and using a macro you can void all of them.  In this way it will be quicker and you can post the same again.

Ian, Thanks for your response.  I think this will work for transactions on a go-forward basis.  However, I'm looking for a way to handle the transactions that are already posted for 2015.  Is there a way to create an automated process to void these transactions and then reprocess them under the new accounting calendar definition?

I think you might need to set he frequency to Miscellaneous; this then posts whenever you click the post button rather than winding forward by one month as Monthly does.
