CRM 4.0 and Browser's support for iFrame

Hi, 1st of all I am newbie and was tasked to create services for CRM.  I used Aspnet to create a service using JavaScript, JQuery and canvas. This Aspnet app run well in IE 9/10 and higher. Understand IE 8 will not support canvas object but IE9/10 and higher support canvas.

Now, In CRM we use an iFrame to call this Aspnet say http://xxxxxx/service.aspx.

The Scenario:

1)  using IE9/10 or higher on Win8 to call the CRM app which contain an Iframe which points to the Aspnet service as above.

The Questions:

a) Does CRM uses its own Browser to run the iFrame or  IE9/10 which on Win8 run the iFrame even it is inside CRM?

b) If using IE9/10 or higher to call my Aspnet service work, is that means the same using IE9/10 call CRM app will work too?

I am confused as my colleague kept telling CRM 4.0 MUST use IE8 only.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi,

Thank u for the advice. With great concern, I found some info from Microsoft as follows:

    support.microsoft.com/.../2669061

    Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

Internet Explorer 8 RTM 5.0.9688.583 Compatible

Internet Explorer 9 RTM 5.0.9688.583 Compatible

Internet Explorer 10 (compatibility mode) Update Rollup 10 5.0.9688.2730 Compatible*

So that means I still can use IE9  But  use rollup 16 or Use RTM ?

    Thanks

Hi, I have the following cases base on CRM 4.0

    1) Now My CRM is not rollup 16 , it is like rollup 7.

1a) I use iFrame in CRM to point to my Aspnet service.

on Client I used IE 10, I can not get the JQuery to work on Canvas object in the iframe.

    1b) On the Client , I used IE10.

This time,I use Button in CRM to PopUp a dialogBox which point to the same Aspnet Service. The JQuery and Canvas work. Why ? in (2a) it does not work but work in (2b) on Client using IE10?

since rollup 7 will not support IE10, why It work in case (1b) ?

    2) If I rollup to 16 for CRM server,  on Client what if I use  IE 10 or Higher ? will it work or I must use IE9 on client for Jquery and canvas to work?

    Thanks
