Hi All,

Right now we are on TFVC and want to move to GIT for Dynamics 365 F&O but not sure, if GIT being supported/recommended by MS for Dynamics 365 F&O development. Would anyone throw some light on this? We are moving just we think that MS might not support TFVC if some issue pops up.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi amandeepsin,

Microsoft themselves are using GIT where TFVC was earlier recommended. More and more companies want to move to GIT. For that purpose, Microsoft provided some information that should help you making the decision to use one or the other.

    Hi
I checked this documentation earlier as well. In this, MS say that GIT is recommended for general development but didn't mention anything for X++. They say if you want to can move to GIT but on TFVC documentation they say it is default for Dynamics F&O.  I think right question here would be, Should MS is supporting TFVC for Dynamics 265 F&O if not then we have to move to GIT. If yes, then we are good.

Microsoft's position is that they don't tell you which version control system you should use; the choice it up to you. The answer to your question "Should MS is supporting TFVC for Dynamics 265 F&O" is that F&O team supports neither TFVC nor Git but you're allowed to use any.

You'll find a bit more information about TFVC in the context of F&O, but as André mentioned, Git is often used as well. The main problem with TFVC is that it isn't actively developed anymore, which isn't the case of Git. And of course, Git is pretty different and you may like its features, such as the easy way of working with branches or the code review workflow based on pull requests.

Another reason for companies to consider Git is that they already have non-F&O development in Git.
