Trial Balance Account suddenly off by $.01

Hi!

We have a situation where we have a small number of previous year transactions with amounts that have 3 Decimal Place for their transaction amounts.  This hadn’t been an issue until last month when we closed the month, a certain Account had a balance that didn’t include the BBF of .009 from our year-end close.  It suddenly now is totaling into our GL Trial Balance and causing this particular Account by $.01.

They have had transactions throughout the year and am not sure why all of the sudden the Trial Balance is now showing their balances being off by $.01.  There have been no changes to the Trial Balance or month-end processes.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

    Assuming you aren't using multi-currency (or have a currency out more than two decimal places), I used to see this quite a bit around GP 2015 when using the Excel Paste feature in the General Entry window (to paste journal entry lines).  The issue was when the data wasn't rounded in Excel to match the decimal places of the currency, it could sneak in some amounts out more than the currency decimal places.  [Using the Excel =round function is needed; changing the cell's format just takes away visibility to the rounding issue.]

    The solution is to identify the data in SQL and correct it, making sure to not cause an out of balance journal entry in the process.
