GP 2010 Management Reporter 2012 RU5 -- getting bad or missing data was encountered when generating new report or migrated report

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Have installed MR 2012 RU5 with Data Mart. Migrated FRx specs. Corrected some minor issues in row formats. Now trying to generate a report and getting error -- 'Bad or missing data was encountered while loading the report and its building blocks. Report generation has been cancelled.'

I get the some error message whether I try to generate a new report that I created in MR or try to generate a report that was migrated from FRx.  Have tried using multiply MR admin user accounts.

Below is the error message that appears in the event log:

System.InvalidOperationException: Sequence contains no elements at System.Linq.Enumerable.Single[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Engine.Common.ReportDefinitionAdapter.CreateFontStyle(Guid id, FontStyleDataSet fontDataset) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Engine.Common.ReportDefinitionAdapter.LoadFontStyles(ReportDefinitionDataProvider dataProvider, Definition definition) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Engine.Common.ReportDefinitionAdapter.CreateDefinition(ReportDefinitionDataProvider dataProvider, Guid masterCompanyId) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.ReportDesigner.ReportControl.GetReportDefinition(ReportDataSet reportDataSet, ReportingTreeDataSet treeData, List`1 selectedUnits, Boolean rollupUnits, FiscalPeriod basePeriodOverride) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.ReportDesigner.ReportControl.GenerateReportLocally()

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Try rebuilding the MR data warehouse.

    If that doesn't work....

Make sure you export your building block groups before you do anything below. Otherwise you'll be hosed.

How was MR installed? If you are in a terminal server, sometimes there can be issues if you don't install the server components as an administrator. I ran into this on Windows Server 2012 and had to reinstall MR using the Admin account. If you are on Server 2008 or 2003 you may have to open the command prompt before installing and change to install mode...

    Change User /Install

Once you are done, use the same command but use the execute switch:

    Change User /Execute

Once you're installed again, open up and import the tbdx files. Hopefully that works....

I tried this as well, but it didn't work.  I then logged in as administrator on the server and MR worked fine.  Are there rights required for users to use MR in a server or terminal server or even workstation?

Worked for me  after converting Dynamics SL FRx reports to GP Management Reporter reports. Thanks!

Thanks, this worked for AX 2012 R2 too.

    John,

I had the similar issue as you have described and the fix was to restart the Application Service and Process Service for Management Reporter.

Open the Management Reproter Configuration Console and restart both the services. This will fix the issue.

    Thanks,

    Ankur
