Hello all
Please i need your input on this.
I have this business requirement: We want to be able to track communications in particular emails related to a task created in the CRM.
When we open the task, we want to see all emails exchanged for this task
I added a timeline control on the task form but email is not appearing as a record type.
Only Notes entity is appearing.
Can you guide me to achieve this?
Thanks

    Hi there,

You're on the right track by adding a timeline control to the Task form in Dynamics 365. However, if only Notes are appearing and Emails are missing, it’s likely due to the form settings or related entity configuration.

Here’s how you can resolve it:

    1. Check Timeline Control Settings:

      • Open the Task form in the form editor.
      • Select the Timeline control, then click on Change Properties.
      • Under Activities, make sure Email is selected as a record type to display.
    2. Verify Email Regarding Field:

      • Ensure that emails are being tracked regarding the Task entity.
      • If emails are not linked to the Task via the Regarding field, they won’t appear in the timeline.
    3. Enable Email in Activities:

      • Go to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System.
      • Under Entities > Task > Relationships, confirm that Email is listed as an activity.
      • If not, you may need to create a relationship or enable it via the Activity entity settings.
    4. Security Role Permissions:

      • Make sure the user has permission to view Email activities.
      • Check the Security Role assigned to the user and ensure Read access to Email is granted.

Let me know if you'd like help walking through the form editor or configuring the relationships!

Please verify if this response was helpful.

    Best regards!

It is not possible to link other activities to the task entity(which is an activity). The only information that can be added to a task is Notes
Creating a new activity is also disabled for the task table.
So how can i achieve the above business requirements
We want to create tasks in dynamics that are linked to a custom entity(Done)
But we also want to track emails and other communications to the related task also.
    How can this be achieved?
    Thanks for the inputs
