Explain license plate label build configuration functionality

This post is a simple request for an explanation of the "license plate label build configuration" feature. I see the field is available on the Work Template header details under the General section, but the only documentation that exists is the feature announcement - nothing that explains how it works in practice.

The text from the feature announcement states:

This feature introduces a new configuration form with fields that must be populated when a new license plate label is generated. It will allow large-scaled businesses to improve performance of license plate label building by skipping fields not required for specific advanced warehousing processes defined by work templates.

Can anyone explain the practical impact of this feature?

    Hello Gary,

I have not work with this but from the description this feature aims at improving performance.  Whenever there is an entry in the License Plate Label table, the system is trying to update all of the fields (may be 50 pieces of different information) which will consume time and processing power. If you have many labels to generate, you will experience performance issues.  Some of these fields may not need to be populated because they will not be printed on labels, so it would allow you to skip these and save on time and CPU power).
