Meaning of the field 'open' and 'remaining quantity' in the item ledger entries

I have two questions about the item ledger entries of pallets.

1. What does the column 'open' mean? Before 14-12-23, the box was always empty. In the remaining quantity field, there is also a value, whereas before it was always zero. These purchase orders have been completely received. The report also shows that all the pallets have been received.

2. In one lane, you see there are 12 pallets booked, and the remaining quantity is 11. How is this possible?

If you notice all the lines with Remaining Qty. = 0 are Closed (ie Not Open).  This means the system has applied the received quantity against some outgoing quantity (shipment/consumption/transfer/etc.).  In your highlighted line, you received 12 units, you have used 1 unit, so you have 11 remaining units.  The line is marked Open because there is still remaining quantity available in inventory.  Once the remaining quantity has been used, the Open flag will be unchecked, meaning that entry is Closed.

Furthermore, it looks like you are using FIFO since the system is consuming from the oldest entry in the Item Ledger.  This might be clearer if your sort order was by Posting Date.

Open field shows whether the entry has been fully applied to.

A check mark in the field means that the entry has not yet been fully applied to and the Remaining Quantity field will be Zero.

If it is partially applied then you will see less remaining qty then original qty.
