Custom Pages Not Showing Up in Search After Installing BC26 Extension

Hello,

I’ve installed an extension that I developed for BC26 (databse migrated from BC13).
Although I can see the extension listed and its objects under 'All Objects with Caption', the pages do not appear when I search for them using the search bar.

To access them, I have to add the page number directly in the URL.
I don’t understand why these customized pages aren’t searchable. Has anyone encountered this issue or knows how to fix it?

Has anyone encountered this issue before ? Any suggestions, insights, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
Regards,

Did you set ApplicationArea and UsageCategory properties for the pages?

    Hi,

You're absolutely right, if custom pages aren’t appearing in the search bar after installing your BC26 extension, it’s likely due to missing metadata properties that control visibility.

    Here’s what to check:

    • Pages must have both the ApplicationArea and UsageCategory properties set. Without these, the system won’t index the page for search or display it in the navigation.
    • For example, your page object should include something like:
      • ApplicationArea = All;
      • UsageCategory = Lists; or UsageCategory = Tasks; depending on the page type
    • If these properties are missing or incorrectly set, the page will still exist and be accessible via direct URL, but won’t show up in Tell Me or the navigation pane.
    • Also confirm that the extension is installed and published as Global, and that the page is not marked as Visible = false or scoped to a restricted role.
    • After updating the page metadata, recompile and publish the extension. You may need to restart the BC client or clear the browser cache to refresh the search index.

    Hii There ,
as per New development standards, You need to define ApplicationArea & Usagecategory , these both required , if you not assign one of them it will not show , some of examples are shown By YUN ZHU for reference, So You need to update all your extensions to add these property.

If You found answer mark It asnwered.

    Thank You.
