In AX 2012 R3 advanced WHS, for short pick scenarios, very often, the“Pick” work line for an item would have multiple batches to be scanned, however, users often do not enter total quantity that is to be scanned prior to the first tag being scanned and then when they reach the last tag to be scanned for that “Pick” line, the “Remaining quantity” does not equal quantity of last tag quantity and then user attempts to salvage Work by then selecting “Short pick” and then not able to do the put operation and so the inventory is stuck in user location. Is there a hotfix available that would allow doing short pick without entering it in advance prior to scanning the 1st batch?

I have the same question (0)Hi usafrancis,
What I have understood is that you have to scan multiple batches while performing a pick line operation in mobile device and while you are picking the last batch you realize that the qty physically is less than AX has reserved to pick and in that case you use short pick operation to salvage the work and pick lesser qty than what was reserved by AX.
I see no issue in performing this scenario as it is a day to day thing for all warehouses. I am putting an example below where to explain your case
item - Item A
on hand
Batch Qty Location
Batch 01 7 Loc-01
Batch 02 4 Loc-01
Sales order created for Item A for 14 pcs as inventory is not sufficient AX will reserve only 11
Sales order released to warehouse
Work Created
Pick 11 Batch 01
Pick 4 Batch 02
While you are picking batch 2 instead of 4 pcs your worker sees only 1 available and clicks short pick and enter 1. Short pick qty is 3 now.
Next mobile device moves to the put screen and work is completed. As mentioned by you "and then not able to do the put operation"
Why you are not able to move to put screen as we can easily?
Do you get any error while you try to proceed after short pick?
Why you want to jump to the short picking of the second batch even before first batch is picked?
I see no issue here. Kindly let me know if I have understood your case wrongly.
