unable to find a net price

i am having issues with extended pricing.  It just started today.  When I run the price trace utility it tells me that it is "unable to find a net price for item XXXX".  I do have the item assigned to a price sheet that is active and assigned to the base price book.  I'm not sure what changed between yesterday and today.  The strange thing is it is broken on my production server and my test server.  Please advise.
