Has anyone inserted a stored procedure into the GP database for creating an Excel query table for data extraction initiated by the excel user interface?
I have done it on a SAGE accounting system and would like to apply to the GP accounting system.
Can the SQL management studio be used to access the GP database?
Anyone who can confirm that out there.
Cheers

SSMS can be used with GP just like any other database. Be careful not to do anything the jeopardizes the integrity of the database however. GP also has its own series of Excel reports that may possibly forego the need for your stored procedure. These reports will have data connections to GP so users can pull data out of the GP database.
Yes you can access. you can also use any BI tool including SRSS to present you query results in a user interface for the user.
Great Thanks Richard, My design to a business problem is (short version) parameter driven stored procedure feeds an excel query table (parameter values from user selection on Excel interface) for feeding into a set of formulas that determine demand planning on purchases to fulfill future orders. This needs something that is not canned reports or the end user doing all the extracting work.
Thanks Romryan, I have multiple data components to feed the data needs to feed some formulas before presentation to the user.
