Hi,

Our environment is using GP 2015 R2 on OS Win 7 SP1. I'm testing Windows 10 1809 now and found most GP installations are crashing after Win7 to Win10 upgrade. The 2 errors I see in Event Viewer are;

  • Faulting application name: Dynamics.exe, version: 14.0.84.0, time stamp: 0x55510502
    Faulting module name: Dynamics.exe, version: 14.0.84.0, time stamp: 0x55510502
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x004d4735
    Faulting process id: 0x1ad8
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d518beda10bbe1
    Faulting application path: C:\GP2015\Dynamics.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\GP2015\Dynamics.exe
    Report Id: 82a5841b-69f0-4f0f-9426-5a000b8bcf40
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:
  • Application: Dynamics.exe
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
    Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException
       at <Module>.TNT_new_event_loop(Int16 (HWND__*, EVENT*, Int16*), Int16, Int16)
       at <Module>.dtw_run()
       at <Module>._WinMainCRTStartup()

GP works fine in Windows 7 SP1 with Office 2016 64-bit, WMF 5.1 and latest .NET Framework 4.8 components.

But the moment I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10 1809, 80% of the upgraded computers started throwing above errors. Around 20% of upgraded PCs got no problem running GP.

I tried everything mentioned in below link except installing Office Web Components. It didn’t help me fix the issue.

Need help from GP experts here. Thanks :-)

    Hi , the problem its related with Exception code: 0xc0000005,  I recommend do this

    he DEP is a set of security features that checks computer memory as one way of protecting your computer from virus. It can be the cause of the error if some installed programs are compatible with it. Disabling it temporarily can easily resolve the 0xc0000005 error.

    Press the combination of Win + R keys.

    Type “sysdm.cpl” in the open Run Box before pressing OK.

    Click on the “Advanced” tab on the resultant system properties window that appears.

    Go to on “Settings.“

    Now, Click on the “Data Execution Protection” tab on the resultant performance tab window.

    Select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.“

    Click “Add” before clicking on “OK.”

    After that, Click on “Apply” then “OK” to effect the changes.

    Close all windows now and check if Exception Error 0xc0000005 Persists.
