Create a new item/product, what are the vendor and vendor item number fields on that form for?

Hi All,

When I create a new item, I see the 2 fields in yellow below. Are they just for information tracking or are there any functionality? Are these fields applicable for parts/marterial items as tracking who I purchased it from? If so, what if I buy it from different vendors? Please advise how you use them and/or have seen companies used them. Thanks so much!

Hi Kim,

When you fill the Vendor, it will be used as primary vendor for the released product. If you fill both values, it will also create a record in the External item description with the external item ID for the given vendor account.
