Add Vendor ID to GL Trial Balance Detail Report

I have a client whose modified GL Trial Balance Detail report didn't survive an upgrade to GP2013.  They want to add the Vendor ID and/or Vendor Name at the transaction level.

There used to be a KB that covered this but I can't find it on Partnersource.  Can anyone help?

    You want to add the Originating Master Name and Originating Master ID to the report.  This is fairly simple, just run the report to the screen and select Modify.  Add these two fields from the Account Transaction table.

    As one whom is looking to upgrade to 2013 and have over 25 modified reports, I'm concerned as to -why- they did not survive the upgrade and should I expect X-no. of mine to also fail and require a 're-write'?  Any preliminary steps I could take to reduce the failure rate?

    Hi,

    Trying to help Wardl with this question. Did you export the reports to package files and then import the package files into the 2013 release?

    Another question is did you try importing the reports from your old REPORTS.Dic into the 2013 Reports dictionary using the import capability of Report Writer?

    Hi Leslie,  I will be upgrading to 2013 within 2-4 months and was concerned about my report migration after reading the above post. Was just looking to see if this is a pervasive problem or just a fluke in his migration.

    I do have an export of each report.

    I have not run into any problems with reports, so far. I have done only 5 upgrades with clients that have been on the system 10 years or so. They all have lots of modified reports, so I always hold my breath with each upgrade. For reports, you have two ways to preserve those old reports. First, create a package file for your reports. Separate the package files by dictionary. Do it by report if you only have a few. Next, is to back up the reports dictionaries.

    If something doesn't upgrade properly, don't throw it out!  Read the update report, it will tell you what the problem is and it can often be corrected.
