SYNC CRM Dynamics data with Azure CosmosDB

I have a requirement where I need to sync data from CRM to Azure Cosmos DB. Currently I am running a script to fetch data through CRM  API and update the Azure CosmosDB incrementally. But that is not realtime data and would result in inconsistent data if there is change in schema.

I want to have some automation done so that I have realtime syncing between the two DB's / any other solution provided by Microsoft where the syncing is taken care of whenever there is a new CRUD on CRM database.

    Hello Sourav,

You can use Dynamics CRM Plugins to achieve that. I'm not familiar with Azure Cosmos DB, however, if it has an API to accept data, you can call it from Dynamics CRM Plugins, in real-time or asynchronous. A Plugin is custom code that you can build and "attach" to any event of Dynamics CRM, like create, retrieve, update, delete, and other ones, of a record.

    Have a look on:

Not sure if you found solution to this or now. I had a similar requirement.

Two options we are working on

    1. Data Export Service which can sync your CRM DB with Azure SQL DB. (if you are trying to store CRM records you should consider a RDBMS instead of Cosmos DB)

    2. If you have to use Cosmos DB then you can write data from CRM to Cosmos DB entity using Microsoft Flow/LogicApps. Event will be trigger a flow which will copy data from particular entity to Cosmos DB.

    Hope this helps.

I had a similar kind of ask where I was supposed to retrieve the data from Cosmos DB and populate the data inside CRM. I used Power Automate for fetching the record, refer the below link for steps and in the same fashion vise-versa way we can push the data from CRM to Cosmos DB.

    Great Article Avinash:

I have a situation where CRM generates a new ID and I am needing to replace the original id (that lives within CosmosDB) with the newly generated ID that CRM generated. Would you have insight on how to do this?
