step content failed to load

Hi there, I must be doing something wrong! I'm new to guides, and trying to create a guide to using our coffee machine. Whenever I load a simple hologram in to the 3d part tray using the PC app, and then move to the HoloLens, I get an error message that the step content failed to load. There is an exclamation point over the 3d asset in HoloLens, but not in the app. The documentation says this happens when the instruction are too complex, but this is literally the second steps, and first one with a hologram. Where am I going wrong? Already tried: restarting the app, restarting my PC, restarting my hololens, and updating the hololens. Any ideas?

Yes, exactly the same as yours. I have also tried all the steps you mentioned without any success.

We have the same error on our Guides Trial environment.

Guides Desktop/Hololens Application version : 704.2207
Guides Solution version : 700.4.0.1

For the moment :
in order to use a default 3D object, we have to download the .glb file of the default shape (from Guides model-driven app in the Power Platform env) and import it from the Desktop App.

Thanks! That seems to have solved the problem. For novices like me, the following guide is useful. Once in, select 3D in the left hand menu for a list of available 3D objects then click on the name and download as above.

Hi SMatPQ, As far as I can tell, the "Step content failed to load" message should be if a step is loading too much contents.

However, your reply suggests the issue from adding default 3D objects to a step --- can you let me know if this is verified by others or is a known issue?

"Step content failed to load" could be related to memory constraints: learn.microsoft.com/.../hololens-app-place-holograms

This error should not be related to length of a guide: learn.microsoft.com/.../ability-create-very-long-guides

Edit: I have found a solution for this is to collapse some of the 3D models (Using Blender) and re-upload them with the same filename.

The error frequency was reduced after reducing the performance target, but still the Guides app can sometimes get stuck still and needs to be closed/reopened before the assets start loading again.
