i there a way that i can save or transfer data to another entity/form without going to other entity?

for example i have a A_field(single line of text field) to the ABC entity/form and the A_field has a data and upon saving the data, i there a way that the data on the A_field will save also to the B_field to DEF entity/form without going to this entity?

Thanks in advance. :)

The easiest way to do that would be to use a workflow to take the data in a_field and update the field in the second entity. You will however have to have a link to the second entity on the first entity otherwise you will need to use a plugin to find the second entity(s) that need to be updated.

What i did i add a relationship from abc entity to def entity and add a data mapping for each field. but this process did not work. Thank you so much for the reply i try to work again using the workflow.

    Hi,

Field mapping only works when you create the child record from the parent. So if you have a lookup on def entity for abc entity then if you create a def entity record from abc entity then the mapping will work fine. Due this this limitation (i.e. field mapping works on create) it is sometime prefered to write a workflow and update the calues in child entity from parent.

    Hope this helps.

In addition to workflow and plugin, you can also write WebAPI update call based on other entity id. You can use Restbuilder in case you want to write WebAPI request.

If my understanding is correct you need to update fields in another entity records. In that case I believe you know which records you want to update and probably this should be related record . In that case I would suggest create workflow to update the DEF entity fields .
