I am a newbie and want to learn about manual testing in Business Central from scratch
Can anyone guide me on this?
Is there any guidance document that I can refer to or any tool where I can start practicing?
This is a good resource: https://usedynamics.com/
Manual testing would entail just knowing the standard product. If you have a customisation to test then you need a specification to test the new parts. If it blends into standard I would check a few fundamentals there too
Thank you for the answer.
If the customization is done, which tool is used for testing?
Hi
My recommendation is to create a simple Excel file as test script. Then list some information like following. Then every time you or your team member can follow it. For customization you need to add the steps to test in this file.
For example
For CS department
Task : create SO
Check for : price , discount , address , etc
See below example
Test-Script-By-Role_5F00_Purchasing.xlsx
Thank you
You are welcome. We have done the same step. We created simpler file and listed the steps. Then we go through it.
One more note: your script file can play a role as training document. When we have a new team member we ask them to practice script in Sandbox. Since script written based on users daily/weekly/monthly task it helps the new team member. For sure we use the script for test. Also, anytime we have new development we add the steps to script.
Finally, if you decide to automate the test you can use your script as a base for automation.
