How the Deployment package is available in Azure DevOps

Dear team,

As we create Deployment package in

VS-- Dynamics365-- Create Deployment package

Then we select the model and path to create the deployment package. So, we clicked on "Create".

For example - I select the path J:\ Package folder to store deployment package.

As I know the below process

Development -- Code Check in -- Azure DevOps Repo -- Build pipeline -- Build server -- Azure DevOps Artifacts -- Azure DevOps pipeline ( Release) -- Deploy to target environment.

My questions is the Deployment package which we created and stored in J drive in package folder how come to the Azure DevOps to deploy in Target environment.

Kindly advise please.

Thanks in advance.

I think the build version in J is a local copy and Azure devops used to build its own package from source code in the repo

If you follow the process you described, you'll never create the package manually and store it on J drive.

    Look at it again:

Development -- Code Check in -- Azure DevOps Repo -- Build pipeline -- Build server -- Azure DevOps Artifacts -- Azure DevOps pipeline ( Release) -- Deploy to target environment.

It says that that you'll use a build pipeline to create a deployable package, which will be stored in DevOps. This replaces you manual process of creating and saving the package. It's much safer, because it guarantees that the data comes from source control, and it saves your time.

The  deployment of the package is done by a release pipeline. You'll take the package from the build result, upload it to LCS (with Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS) Asset Upload task) and deploy it to an environment.

A good idea would be learn about the topic. You'll find a plenty of information on internet, such as Step-by-Step Guide: Creating D365FO Build and Deploy Pipelines.

    Thanks Martin

As we create the deployment package manually as mentioned in the thread as placed in J drive in Package folder, how we proceed it to Azure DevOps for the Deployment in target environment.

***Is we required Azure DevOps for manual Deployment or we can do it directly without AzureDevOps.

I understood well the deployment process through build pipeline.

***I Like to know the manual process to deploy the deployment package in Target environment UAT.

    Kindly advise pls.

    Thanks in advance.

Okay, so you want to deploy the package manually (despite the risks) and we should ignore everything you said about Azure DevOps, because you just mistakenly thought that your question it's somehow related to Azure DevOps. You've now made clear that your original question ("how come to the Azure DevOps to deploy in Target environment") isn't what you actually want to know.

The manual process of deploying has nothing to do with Azure DevOps pipelines. You'd use pipelines to avoid doing things manually.

I'll assume you want to deploy a package to an environment in LCS (not UDE/USE).

To deploy a package manually, upload it to LCS asset library. Then open details of the target environment in LCS and use Maintain > Apply updates. You can find more information on internet, such as Manually create and apply deployable packages.
