Hi team,
I am trying to configure on-prem ADX portal for my online CRM 2016 update (8.1.0.362) organization.
I have setup website in CRM using ADX installer. I also made changes in web.config to point to my organization and appropriate website.
However I am not able to run the solution. Its running into issue.

Have you got temporary license for ADX portal and is it configured in CRM ?

Remove all customizations from the Web.config and try again. See if you are able to connect using the connection wizard. It is nice to be able to modify the web.config, but it is not necessary. If you use the connection wizard, which will present itself the first time you attempt to browse your portal website, the wizard dialog will request your connection info and establish the connection. The connection information will be stored in a file named "Settings.XML" within the App_Data folder of the master portal.

    Hi Patrick.

    Thanks for your response.

I've removed all the modifications and installed "clear" copy of portal.

I was trying to use Connection Wizard however when I'm clicking "Check Connection" button application freezes and nothing happens.

Web service is available, CRM organization has ADX Solution installed and inputed account has CRM System Administrator Role.

    Kind regards.

This is strange. Here are a few things I would do.

    1. Try a different browser

    2. Open your browser's dev tools and check the network log and console for errors.

    3. Post what you see in the dev tools here, that may give me a better idea.

I am of the assumption that there is some sort of security conflict here where the wizard cannot establish the connection, yet there is no visible error or message.

    Hi Patrick,

When I use Google Chrome I'm getting the following error:

    2016_2D00_06_2D00_30_5F00_08h55_5F00_19.png

I cannot see any javascript errors (or other) in my dev tools.
    Any ideas?

    Piotr,

Unfortunately this is a bug that relates to the use of Adxstudio Portals (legacy portals, not the new portal add-on) with CRM 2016. community.adxstudio.com/.../728ae6e1-61ad-e511-9404-000d3a10c026

Sorry to say, I do not know when or if this will be resolved. The workaround mentioned in the link above seems to work, but likely has unforeseen consequences.

    Patrick,

I would like to know what is your recommendation in this topic? Should we wait for the 8.x.x.x version of on-premise portal (I’m not sure is there any official information available when it will be ready)? Or should we try to modify default portal files according to the link you send above.

The ADX documentation says that CRM 2016 is officially supported. We're planning to start implementation of portal solution for our client shortly and ADX is one of possible technologies we’re considering right now. CRM is on-premise installation and so the portal should be. However, right now I have many doubts regarding ADX and CRM 2016 working together.

    Piotr,

We are investigating this issue currently with the intent of identifying a supported workaround. You are correct, publications by Microsoft regarding the likelihood or timeline of an on premise portal add-on for CRM 2016 or future versions are non existent (to my knowledge). I will be sure to update this thread should I receive information that will assist you in better making a decision regarding your portal implementation.

Has this been resolved? I'm having this issue with Dynamics365 and On Premise Portal msi 7.0.0022 which is the very latest from March 2016
